* Infants prefer consonant to dissonant musical intervals before cultural training
* Symmetrical visual patterns are preferred across demographic groups
* Basic emotional responses to tempo and volume show cross-cultural consistency

**Cultural Modulation:** However, interpretation layers vary dramatically:

* What constitutes "beauty" or "meaning" depends heavily on cultural conditioning
* The same physiological arousal can be interpreted as positive or negative based on context
* Social class, education, and identity significantly influence aesthetic preferences

**Synthesis:** Formal elements provide consistent physiological "input force" while cultural context acts as interpretive "spring constant" - determining how far that initial response develops into meaning and action.
