# Default Mode Network Integration

The Default Mode Network (DMN) integrates sensory and emotional inputs into coherent narratives and self-relevant meaning:

**Synchronized Processing:** fMRI hyperscanning studies show that during engaging content, multiple viewers' DMN activity synchronizes. Groups can achieve up to 65% correlation in brain activity during compelling narrative moments.

**Narrative Transportation:** When fully engaged with media, awareness of real surroundings fades as the DMN creates immersive story experience. In this state, the brain shows synchronized activity across regions normally associated with direct experience rather than media consumption.
