Before examining specific transmission mechanisms, we must correct the fundamental misunderstanding that underlies most approaches to cultural change: the assumption that perception begins in the brain and filters down to the body. This assumption is completely backwards and leads to ineffective strategies that try to convince minds while ignoring the nervous system states that actually determine receptivity.
